‘There’s nothing more important when it comes to motorhoming than the safety of you and your family or travelling companions, so it’s crucial that you take every step possible to keep yourselves protected.

One great way of doing that is by getting the best fire extinguisher for a campervan, which can potentially save your life – and the contents of your motorhome – in the event of a fire.

But which do you choose? Our technical writer Peter Rosenthal is a big fan of the Fire Safety Stick, which is a compact unit (it comes in at just 27cm long, and 3cm in diameter) that can be stored in your motorhome with ease. Two discharge durations are available – 100 or 50 seconds – and they are suitable for tackling cooking fat fires (Class F), as well as Classes A, B and C, as well as electrical.

What’s really clever is that you can deploy the extinguisher and leave it to fight the fire while you leave the motorhome, allowing you to call the emergency services more quickly. “With a discharge time of at least 50 seconds (triple that of most AFFF extinguishers) the Fire Safety Stick is impressively compact, yet packs proper punch.
