INFORMATION

Frequently asked questions about the Fire Safety Stick

The Fire Safety Stick is a revolutionary fire extinguisher for fast, effective, and clean fire suppression in a compact form.

Unlike traditional extinguishers with a pressurised canister, it uses a solid compound that produces a powerful aerosol when activated. This aerosol interrupts the chemical reaction of fire, quickly and efficiently extinguishing flames.

The Fire Safety Stick offers a safer, simpler, and more versatile way to protect people and property from fire.

What is the Fire Safety Stick?

It uses a potassium ion jet (a unique method among conventional fire extinguishers) that works by interrupting a fire’s chain of reaction (the “auto-catalyst” of the fire). When activated, a chemical reaction occurs that breaks the resin down to nitrogen gas. This inert gas pushes out the active agent, which is potassium free radicals or ions. These ions (about 3-4 microns in size) bind to the oxygen around the flame, which becomes potassium oxide, and in doing so, displaces the oxygen at the flame level.

A design and chemical reaction that was invented for use during the 1960s space race, to stop fires without harming mission-critical electrical instruments and without depriving breathable oxygen.

How does the Fire Safety Stick work?

It is certified for multiple classes of fire, including:

Class A – Combustible materials like wood, paper, fabric etc.

Class B – Flammable liquids like petrol, diesel, oil etc.

Class C – Gases such as propane, butane etc.

Electrical Fires up to 100,000v.

Class F – Cooking oils and fats.

Please note: It is not certified for coal, charcoal and lithium-ion battery fires.

What fire classes is it certified for?

The Fire Safety Stick leaves no corrosive mess or residue.

Traditional extinguishers discharge foam, chemicals, powder, or water, which can damage electronics, machinery, and property after a fire.

In contrast, the Fire Safety Stick’s vapour dissipates cleanly. This makes it ideal for homes, kitchens, garages, vehicles, boats, and other sensitive environments.

Does it leave a corrosive mess?

A major advantage of the Fire Safety Stick is that it is completely service-free. It contains no moving parts, pressurised tanks, or chemicals that degrade over time. This makes it convenient for homeowners, vehicle owners, and businesses seeking a low-cost, reliable fire safety solution.

It offers over 15 years of shelf life, requiring only a simple visual inspection, which can be performed by any responsible person. An inspection logbook is available for businesses that need one to meet legal requirements.

Does it need annual servicing?

It has an exceptionally long shelf life. The Fire Safety Stick lasts 15 years or more without refilling or professional servicing.

Traditional extinguishers should be annually serviced to ensure reliable discharge. Many expire after five years unless recharged, which always requires a service.

We only recommend a simple self-check visual inspection on a regular basis, which can be performed by any responsible person.

Does it have a shelf life?

The Fire Safety Stick is safe to breathe and has been tested in a sealed 3㎥ room. It is non-pressurised, eliminating any risk of accidental discharge or pressure loss if dropped or knocked.

Eco-conscious users will appreciate that it is non-toxic, environmentally friendly, and recyclable. It is also safe for humans and pets.

Of course, if the fire has grown beyond an incipient stage fire, get out to safety. Let the fire service do their job and prioritise your health.

Fire Safety Stick: 1960s Space Race

A history steeped in innovation and competition between two nations racing each other to be the first to the moon.

One of these innovative inventions was an early version of the compound that can be found within the Fire Safety Stick of the present day. Created to achieve a fire aid that could be installed around electrical instruments and would stop fires without leaving behind a corrosive mess.

Now, in the 21st century, an improved and refined version of the compound has been implemented in every Fire Safety Stick around the world.
